At a time when it seems we’re facing new crises every day, at every level, WeROC is building our capacity to work with our members, friends, and allies to strategically turn crises into opportunities — and fight the discouragement and division that our opponents constantly try to sow among us.  Please come and be a part of launching a new phase in our unique work in Washtenaw County, as we address current crises and social justice issues while raising new resources to do our organizing work even better.  WeROC is more important than ever, especially as we follow the lead of those most affected by the local, regional, and national injustices we are all facing.

April 2022 WeROC Meeting of the Whole, Thursday 4/7/22

WeROC Friends and Family,

Please join us this Thursday at 5:30pm for our monthly Meeting of the Whole.  You will hear about our plans for Friendraising in May and early September.  We will have detailed information about interesting WeROC virtual sessions on the timeliest of topics designed to capture the hearts and minds of kindred spirits in our community.

We will also present information on Get Out the Vote activities in our community and region.

Our sister organization, MOSES, is offering a Faith Captain’s Academy the second Monday of every month at least thru August.  Faith Captains (you can be one!) will receive organizing training (beyond the Organizing 101 training) that can be used to participate and invite others to engage in Interactive Voter Engagement and can be used for organizing and building power before and beyond election activities.  It will help you organize around any current issue also.  You do not have to have a congregation to participate.

I hope to see you at the meeting this Thursday.

February 2022 WeROC Meeting of the Whole

Greetings, WeROC Members and Supporters ..

Please register below and join us for our monthly WeROC Meeting of the Whole, this Thursday 2/3, 5:30-6:30 on Zoom. Our Action Team leaders will share updates on Voting Rights, Health Equity, and Justice Matters (criminal system reform) Action Teams — with opportunities for YOU to engage in the great work of one or more of the teams!

  • We’ll also touch on the emerging cross-county role for WeROC, outlined in a public Statement we began distributing this week: Encouraging and supporting local residents, congregations, and organizations – especially those most harmed by Covid and past decisions — in cities and townships across Washtenaw County who are now engaging — or hope to engage in the near future — in the exciting local decisions beginning to happen on how best to spend the large new sums of federal money becoming available to us.
  • You can help us identify folks or groups that are organizing around local decisions about ARPA (and other potential sources of major new funding).

One more thing:  Please RSVP for this Friday’s Transit Equity Day events. Equitable public transportation is in WeROC’s DNA, having cut our teeth on very successful local transit issues. We strongly encourage broad participation in this event.

Hope to “see” you at our Thursday 5:30 WeROC meeting! Register in advance for this meeting:

October 2021 WeROC Meeting of the Whole

Hello, all —

Register here for Thursday’s (Oct 7) monthly (still virtual) Meeting of the Whole, 5:30-6:30 pm.

Whether you’ve been a part of WeROC’s past work, or you’re a first timer, we think this hour will be valuable to all of us.  One of our basic organizing understandings is that, at its root, power comes from two things — organized people and/or organized moneyWe’ll explore how this applies to our local work together.

Come and hear updates and opportunities from the leaders of our three current Action Teams (Health Equity, Voter Rights, and Justice Matters), and how WeROC as a whole is tying all of our campaigns together with plans for organizing more people and more dollars, in lots of creative ways.

Check out our Website and social media below…and if you haven’t pushed that DONATE button lately, we hope you’ll consider an investment of whatever you can in serious, bottom-up, collective power-building, right here in Washtenaw County!
