WeROC October Meeting of the Whole Cancelled

Faithful WeROC and Justice Matters Members and Supporters —

Intense times right? But there are two events next week that we hope you can participate in, that will both move our unique grassroots power-building forward together in the Washtenaw region. Please consider!

  • Washtenaw Judicial Candidate Forum: Monday, Sept 30, 6:30-8:00, Washtenaw Co Learning Resource Center, 4135 Washtenaw Av.
    • Judicial Candidates will answer community questions from WeROC and fellow organizations, to help us all be smarter as voting begins.
  • Tip the Scales: Saturday, Oct 5, 1-5 pm, The Senate Theater, 6424 Michigan Av, Detroit 48210 (Flyer below, Please REGISTER HERE):
    • A very special youth-led event around education, featuring a short play that the young activists and organizers have created.
    • The event is a good example of the powerful “Public Meeting” approach to getting public commitments from decisionmakers, developing new leaders, and building broad-based power — the kind of event that WeROC and MOSES can learn from and adapt for our Justice Matters and other campaigns.
    • Please invite others, especially young people and those that work with them, who will appreciate seeing how youth really can take powerful action together, with “older” allies
    • Transportation from Washtenaw — Contact Tad Wysor at 734 883 3225

To help us all be able to support one or both of these special events, we’ll skip the October WeROC meeting of the Whole. See you Nov 7, for a low-key meeting to reflect on the election and beyond. Smart, powerful, bottom-up organizing will be more crucial than ever, right?
